About the SBF
The vision of the Scottish Bioinformatics Forum (SBF) is:
To establish Scotland as a globally recognised and leading location for conducting cutting edge bioinformatics research and sustainable commercial activity”
The Scottish Bioinformatics Forum was formed under the stewardship of Scottish Enterprise in 2001, with the engagement of researchers from all sectors of research in Scotland. The SBF engages with all developers and users of bioinformatics methods, and supports both the academic research base and commercial organisations by actively promoting training and facilitating access to bioinformatics skills.
The Scottish Bioinformatics Forum is funded by The Scottish Government, Scottish Funding Council, and Scottish Enterprise. The SBF works together with Scottish Development International, industry organisations, and networking organisations to increase the profile of Scottish Bioinformatics, attract investment in life science research, and to encourage academic excellence in bioinformatics.
SBF activities are steered by a Management group appointed by the RSE Scotland Foundation. To further ensure close integration with the scientific communicty and to maximise the input the community has into SBF activities, we also have an Advisory group. The advisory group consists of representatives from academia, industry, and development organisations across Scotland.
