The SBF provides access to expertise in bioinformatics and is developing a knowledge base on Scottish bioinformatics research, organizations, and facilities. The database contains details of all bioinformatics related expertise, infra-structure, and teaching tools, both in industry and academia, in Scotland. This database will be used to facilitate collaborations, joint-ventures, knowledge transfer, and training in bioinformatics at a national and international level. For more information on the knowledge base please contact us.

Database of Bioinformatics Capabilities in Scotland

This section contains a catalogue of Scottish bioinformatics activities, arranged into the main categories listed below. Each of the main categories is divided into sub-groups, clearly describing the key research capabilities. The Scottish Bioinformatics Forum can put you in touch with the relevant people conducting bioinformatics research in Scotland.

• sequence analysis
• molecular structure analysis
• molecular interaction analysis
• gene expression analysis
• visualisation
• systems modelling
• metabolite analysis
• computational analysis of genetic inheritance
